2025 Ford F-150 Engine Differences

Six potent engine options give you a wide range of power output and fuel efficiency options in the 2025 Ford F-150. 

If you like classic V8 muscle, the 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 is ready to impress with a 400-horsepower output, while the 5.2L supercharged V8 offers the highest F-150 power output with 720 horsepower. If a twin-turbo V6 is more your speed, the F-150 offers four different EcoBoost® V6 options. The most powerful is the high-output 3.5L engine that’s standard on the F-150 Raptor® with 450 horsepower. Top torque output numbers are available with the 5.2L supercharged V8 engine, with the 3.5L PowerBoost® full hybrid V6 coming in second with 570 pound-feet of torque. 

For maximum city fuel efficiency, the PowerBoost full hybrid V6 leads the way. It achieves 22 MPG in town and 24 MPG on the highway. For top highway fuel economy, the 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost engines can both achieve up to 25 MPG. 

Across the engine lineup, a ten-speed automatic transmission serves to distribute the power. Choose between a 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrain with the 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost engines and the 5.0L V8. All other F-150 engines are exclusively paired with a 4x4 drivetrain.

2025 Ford F-150 How Much Can a Ford F-150 Tow?

Put your new 2025 Ford F-150 to work with its stunning towing capacity. When properly equipped with the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine, a SuperCrew® cab with a 6.5-foot bed, 4x4 drivetrain, and the optional Tow/Haul Package, the 2025 F-150 has a maximum towing capacity of 13,500 pounds. Maximum V8 towing capacity with the F-150 is 12,900 pounds, and maximum hybrid towing capacity is 11,200 pounds.

One of the key upgrades you’ll need to unleash the full towing potential of your F-150 with the 3.5L EcoBoost, PowerBoost, and 5.0L engines is the Tow/Haul Package. In addition to adding a trailer brake controller, the package adds a 3.55 electronic-locking rear axle with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine and a 3.73 electronic-locking rear axle with the 5.0L V8 engine.
